Description:Colene Adkins had learned how to quilt later in her life and was only a quilter for about year and a half by the time this interview was conducted. Despite her mother and grandmother being quilters she learned how to quilt at the library. Her favorite quilting technique is Chicken Scratch, and views quilting as therapeutic. Description:While Deanna Apfel’s grandmother had been a quilter, she did not form a passion for it until she took a color and composition class in 1995. She is often inspired by her travels, and enjoys the diversity and sense of community quilt groups foster. Apfel created a website for her quilt group, and considered replacing it with a blog. She also enjoys working with a quilting group called Los Hilos de la Vida, which help provide a space for Latina women to be creative and express themselves as a form of therapy. [show more]
